Finding free and open source games is easy, but finding games that are actually worth playing is not. In this post, I’ve highlighted some of the best new free and open source games of 2017 ranging from first person shooters to flight and vehicle simulators. A special mention goes to SuperTuxKart, which is an amazing Linux take on the popular Nintendo Mario Kart games.

FlightGear is a free and open source flight simulator that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It is a solid alternative to other desktop flight sim games, offering a realistic simulation environment for use in research, pilot training, or just for fun.
